BIBLE IN A YEAR: Ps 73 -75

KILL THAT INNER ENEMY
Monday, October 25, 2010

MEMORIZE: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:” (2 Cor. 4:3)

READ: 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

Apart from physical prisons, there are several spiritual prisons that those who are not in physical prisons are captives of. Looking at imprisonment on a wider scope shows that only very few are actually free. Many people are imprisoned and know about it. But there are so many who do not know that they are in one form of prison or the other. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them”.

Being in prison but not realizing it could be the greatest form of imprisonment ever possible. It takes the presence of the Holy Spirit in the heart and surrounding of a man to expose the form of captivity the fellow is in (2 Cor. 3:17). This is why you must continue to open your heart to the truth of God’s Word and always be in His presence.

One fact about imprisonment and freedom is that there can never be total freedom until the death of the oppressor. There are those who have attended deliverance services and sang the song of the delivered only to observe much later to their greatest surprise that they were bound again. When the children of Israel left Egypt, they were singing, ‘Freed at last’. Not long after, they turned back and saw Pharaoh and his host heading furiously towards them. It was only after Pharaoh and his men drowned in the Red sea that their deliverance was complete.

Do not sing for joy when your giant has only been knocked down. If his head is still connected to his body, he will rise again to do something worse! Some years ago, while doing my normal night walk holding my staff, I saw a snake on the road. It appeared motionless to a point that one would think that it had been run over by a car and was dead. As I continued my walk, something asked me to check for the snake.

I turned just after a few steps but the snake had disappeared. Then I heard God say, “No snake is dead until it loses its head”. I have discovered that the strongest enemy is not outside but inside. The elders say If the internal death agent cannot kill you, the external one cannot kill you. It is the internal enemy that opens the door for the external ones to come in. What are the lethal internal enemies still hibernating in you? Deal with them today!

ACTION POINT:
Talking of enemies, the first thing people do is look for one outside when the toughest enemy is inside. Deal with your lusts, passions, desires and flesh!
