It takes the presence of the Holy Spirit in the heart and surrounding of a man to expose the form of captivity the fellow is in (2 Cor. 3:17). The elders say If the internal death agent cannot kill you, the external one cannot kill you. It is the internal enemy that opens the door for the external ones to come in. ENCOUNTERING THE LIGHT Sunday, October 24, 2010
MEMORIZE: “Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen” (1 Tim. 6:16) READ: Acts 9:1-8 One thing that God loves is light. At the beginning, He created the sun, moon and stars (Gen. 1:15-16). One reason God loves light is because He is light. 1 John 1:5 says, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”. God’s light has no room for the slightest speck of darkness. Like the Father and the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ is light. 1 Timothy 6:16 says the light surrounding Jesus is unapproachable. It is simply blinding! While travelling on a mission against the early disciples of Jesus one day, Saul encountered that light for a few seconds, was knocked down and discovered he had suddenly gone blind! It took mercy from the Light to restore his sight! Anyone working against you shall be visited by the Light and silenced this season in Jesus’ Name! According to John 1:9, Jesus Christ is the true Light after which physical lights are patterned. That means physical lights such as the sun, moon, stars and all forms of man-made lights only point to Jesus - the Light of the world. Do you have Him in your heart? When light comes, darkness disappears. Hence, John 1:5 says darkness cannot withstand the light. The only thing darkness fears is light. Anytime there is darkness and you introduce light, darkness flees. Whenever you are confused or your heart is darkened with sin and you allow the light of God’s Word to shine into it, that situation is brought under control. One sure way of repelling those who want to drag you into sin is by confronting them with the Word. Also, when light shines in a dark environment, all the secret activities will be exposed. Do you know that it is possible for you to know the secret thoughts and plans of your enemies before their implementation? To do this, let the light of God’s Word shine in your heart and be full of the Holy Spirit. There is hardly any significant thing that takes place on earth without God first revealing it to one of His confidants (Psalm 25:14). In addition, when light comes, it propels you into action. Not many people want to perform brain-tasking assignments when it is dark. If you allow the light of Jesus to shine in your heart, you will be supernaturally propelled to pick up your lost destiny and fulfill it. MEMORIZE: “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also ” (James 2:26) READ: James 2:20-26 The wise realizes that he requires God’s assistance to reach his goal. Also, the wise recognizes his need for divine partnership. He will be prepared to do what God expects from him so that God can do what He has promised to do. In this partnership, God is the Senior Partner, hence, He is the One who calls the shots.It is a wise person who makes effort to know what God wants done and goes ahead to do it. According to Galatians 6:7, expecting returns from where you have not labored amounts to self- deception. I have been the General Overseer of RCCG for 27 years yet, at the Headquarters church, they never thought I had need for mobility. I went there to preach at least once every month. Just recently, they bought me a Toyota Corolla. I turned it down, but when they insisted, I realized they had something up their sleeves. I found out a month later that they were saving money to buy a bus but it was not enough so seeing me as a fertile ground to sow, they converted the money to buy a car for me. Within one month, they got three buses. Even their pastor got a Camry car. It takes wisdom to know that if you ask God for something, you do not fold your hands, but must do something to provoke God. What have you done to back up your request from God? “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:20). It is good to exercise faith but whenever faith is not backed up by works, that trip is a futile one. For instance, Proverbs 11:30 says its only the wise who wins souls. And John 15:16 says soul winning pleases your Senior Partner. If you want God to be happy with you and give you those beautiful heart desires, first ensure you make Him happy through winning souls into His Kingdom. If you can be a die-hard soul winner this year, making pleasing God top priority, no matter what the economy of the world or of your nation is saying, it shall surely be well with you. You must be holy because God is holy. Avoid anything that makes you a fool such as anger. Keep far away from sin. Love God and God’s people, and be relevant in the expansion of God’s Kingdom. Trade what you have for what you want. ACTION POINT: Launch out for souls, souls, and more souls. Use every opportunity you have to lead somebody to Christ.
