RETURN TO GOD- Open Heaven devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: NUM 25 - 27

RETURN TO GOD

Sunday, March 21, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Come, and let us return unto the LORD; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up” (Hosea 6:1)

READ: Hosea 6:1-3

To avoid famine, you need to be acquainted with the One who can prevent or deliver you from any famine; Receive His Word and live by that Word. Your daily steps should be routed along God’s Written and Spoken Word. Joshua 1:8 stresses the need to meditate on God’s Word by day and night. This means that the Word should pervade your thought life. Many believers read or study the Bible but never think on it.

They are quite unlike Mary who always pondered on the Word (Luke 2:19,51). If you can find time to think on the Word by day, solutions to the challenges of the day will easily come to you. And if you think on it by night, you will have victory over activities of darkness in the spirit realm. No wonder the one who meditates on the Word makes his or her way prosperous. Through meditation on God’s Word, you make God your focus both day and night. Every challenge by day or night will have the Word to contend with. You can be assured of a resounding victory.

“Come, and let us return unto the LORD; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up” (Hosea 6:1). Another step toward avoiding a famine is by returning to God. Have you strayed from the path of righteousness? Or has your disobedience already landed you in a famine? Then it’s time to return to God and be built up. The walls of fire that had crumbled will be rebuilt. The peace and joy you have lost will be restored.

Do you know that one act of disobedience can trigger famine? If Isaac had failed to sow in Gerar during famine or had gone to Egypt, he would have become a victim of famine. There are some people who are finding it difficult to get new contracts because they failed to distribute the profit of their last contract as instructed by God.

Some people are going through a famine of God’s Word: In the past, they heard God’s voice frequently and clearly but because they disobeyed Him on a particular assignment or issue, they now go to other people to tell them what God is saying. Are you in any of such situations? God is about to restore you. Repent and return to God today. His love and mercy is reaching out to you now.

ACTION POINT:
Ask God to take away the famine of God’s Word from the Body of Christ. Father, in any way I have triggered a famine, help me to terminate it.

THE SUPER KING 2- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Num 21-24

THE SUPER KING - 2

Saturday, March 20, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords” (1 Tim 6:15)

READ: 1 Timothy 6:13-16

Hebrews 1:2 says Jesus is the Heir of All Things. If you are His own, He can recover your lost inheritance. He may choose to retrieve your loss from those who originally stole it, or through an entirely different source. As you hand over the case to Him, let Him decide how to go about it. Besides, He can promote you to become a co-heir with Him. Praise God! All the assets, benefits and opportunities your oppressors have stolen from you shall be restored by fire this season in Jesus’ Name.
Moreover, Jesus Christ is linked with royalty. What else would you have expected from the Creator and Owner of the Heavens and earth? (Psalm 24:1). His link with royalty is indicated by His titles Prince of kings (Rev. 1:5), Potentate, King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Tim. 6:15) and King of Glory (Psalm 24:7-10). No wonder the wise men who were dreaded by earthly kings fell at His feet and worshipped even when He was a two-year-old child (Matt 2:1-11).

If you want power, He has it. If you want honor, He has it. He installs and dethrones the kings of the earth (Dan. 4:24-25). Infact, no king, president, or head gets to any position of authority without His approval. Only foolish kings will refuse to bow to Him now, because they will be compelled to bow to Him after death. Any earthly king, president or governor who bows to this Super King reinforces his authority over his domain and maintains relevance.

Everyone who receives Him into their hearts becomes a king. This is unbeatable! How many presidents have the power to appoint other presidents? How many local kings have the power to appoint kings like themselves? At best, some can appoint a few chiefs or leaders but Jesus turns everyone who believes in Him into kings. And apart from reigning over situations and circumstances, during the Millennial Reign, they will reign with Him for 1000 years during the most peaceful era and thereafter reign eternally with Him! If you are not born again, give your life to Jesus Christ now and you will become one of His kings. Demons and Satan will bow to you. You will control anything He controls as He empowers you to do so. How are you worshipping this Super King?

ACTION POINT:
When Jesus appoints you a king, it is forever but when any man appoints you king, at best it is for a lifetime.

YOU CAN ACHIEVEFanny J. Crosby: An Autobiography (Hendrickson Biographies)

Friday, March 19, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23)

READ: Mark 9:17-27

One of the greatest hymn writers known in Christianity is Fanny Crosby. Like Paul who refused to be limited by his physical stature, Fanny was confronted by a physical health challenge yet she refused to be limited by it. From living examples of Fanny, Paul and the likes, it is glaring that physical limitations can only limit those who let them. As long as you refuse to be limited by your physical or financial disabilities, and handicaps, you will see yourself soaring above those who never had a handicap in the first place.
You will be shocked to discover that the physically challenged or handicapped are better managers of their bodies than those without handicaps; And as a result, they accomplish feats that even some able-bodied people cannot do. Are you physically challenged? Do you have a hearing, seeing or walking problem? The Lord will touch you this season. Do you know that God could sometimes decide to make you a statement to the world by making you accomplish feats even with your present disability?

Fanny had a health challenge that was not properly treated which made her blind as early as six weeks old. Inspite of this, she enrolled at the New York school for the blind at the age of 12 and so excelled in her studies that she returned there to teach in 1847 for the next 11 years. In her state of blindness, she wrote over 7000 sacred songs and hymns including ‘Near the Cross’, ‘Safe in the Arms of Jesus’, ‘Rescue the Perishing’, etc. One day, Fanny visited the home of her friends - the Knapps who had a very large pipe - organ.

As Mrs Knapp invited Fanny beside the piano to listen to her newly composed melody, she asked of her opinion concerning the tune. Intuitively, Fanny blurted out: ‘Blessed assurance Jesus is mine’. Thereafter she drew from her wealth of knowledge of scripture and continued: ‘Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine; heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood’.

That was how that hymn was born! She finally died at over 84 years. If a blind woman can achieve so much in her life time, leaving wonderful legacies for us, what can’t you achieve by the grace of God on your life?

ACTION POINT:
Your limitations are not as severe as Fanny Crosby’s. If she can achieve so much for the Kingdom, Heaven will not excuse your reasons for non achievement.

BECOMING VILE- Open heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Num 15-17

BECOMING VILE?
Thursday, March 18, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved” (1 Cor. 10:33)

READ: 1 Samuel 3:11-14

What you wear affects what you say and how it is said. It also affects how you relate with those you interact with. Your dressing sets the tone for the day.  What are you dressed with? In those days, you could easily distinguish harlots from responsible ladies by their dressing. Today, there is hardly any difference between a harlot and some Christian ladies right in the church.

What this means is that even when the dressing of harlots has not changed, that of some believers has gradually metamorphosed into harlots wears. When your skirt is going above your knees by an inch each time, you are moving towards the dressing of a harlot. When you allow slits, perforations and openings at sensitive areas of your body which reveal that you are for sale to would-be buyers, you are conforming towards harlotry.

It is a shame for a married woman to wear minis, micro-minis and dresses that expose what is not for sale. It is even worse when so-called female ministers or ministers’ wives have become the object of temptation for the flock they are supposed to be leading. If your dressing is sentencing souls to hell, know that you have already made your eternal reservations in hell. How are you dressing? Is God glorified by your dressing?

One way to identify a mad man is by his dressing. Can you imagine somebody deliberately applying starch on his hair so that it can stand? Or, after purchasing a nice pair of trousers, the fellow will take a blade and rip it in shreds before certifying it ‘fit’ for wearing? What madness! Do you know that God will hold many of us responsible for misleading our children?Train up a child: How to tell your child about God

Eli ruined his ministry and died before his time having fallen out of favor with God because he could not bring up his children in God’s ways.  God will also hold husbands responsible for not being able to tame their wives of excessiveness because the husband is the head of the wife. If you cannot spell out decent Christian dressing styles to your wife, then you are the one who gave her the go-ahead to be loose. And when harvest time comes, you cannot escape. In what ways has your weakness, silence or non-challance contributed to lose dressing by your children or wife? Repent and make amends today before it is too late.

ACTION POINT:
Have you knowingly or unknowingly influenced the youths or teens under you to dress to kill? Repent and restitute.

One Hundredfold return- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Num 11-14

ONE HUNDREDFOLD RETURN

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

MEMORIZE: “If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?” (1 Cor. 9:11)

READ: 1 Corinthians 9:7-14

Mark 4:8 says it is possible to get thirtyfold or a sixty fold return from a spiritual investment. When you give a cup of cold water to any born again believer anywhere in the world, all other things being equal - i.e. having the right motive, doing it at the time the Spirit prompts you, etc. you qualify for a thirtyfold return. Whenever you give to a pastor or man of God, you receive a sixtyfold return in due season.

Some pastors refuse to sow into the lives of fellow needy pastors thinking their seed will be lost. That is not true. A pastor who sows into the life of a fellow pastor receives the same sixtyfold return. Leaders must learn to sow into the lives of fellow leaders particularly those who are in need. As pastors in progress, you gain nothing from seeing your fellow minister incapacitated as a result of a particular lack in his or her life, especially when you are in position to help the fellow.

Another level of returns is the hundredfold return. You can access this type of return when you sow into the life of the high priest. That means, apart from giving to your pastor or prophet, sow into the life of the head of the prophets or pastors. You can obtain hundredfold return when you give to genuine church Founders, General Superintendents and General Overseers.

This was what the widow of Zarephath did when she sowed into the life of Elijah in 1 Kings 17:8-16. As a result of that seed, she was connected to the source of blessings and got great harvests: Her only meal was multiplied and it sustained her household for two years. While others were experiencing dryness because of the prevailing famine, she was experiencing her boom days.

Also, the plan of the enemy to take the life of her only child was aborted (1 Kings 17:17-24). When you sow into the life of a genuine high priest of God, you do not only get returns in monetary or material forms, but also obtain what money cannot buy. Some people will say, ‘Our G.O. is very comfortable and does not need what I want to give to Him. Let me rather send this to somebody else who needs it’. Always remember when you sow, you are not doing the recipient of that seed a favor but yourself. Stop robbing yourself of your greatest blessings!

ACTION POINT:
It is profitable to sow into fellow believers, more profitable to sow into your pastor and most profitable to sow into your high priest.

Great Grace -OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE

GREAT GRACE
The Quickening: Entering into the Firestorm of God's Grace

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

MEMORIZE: “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33)

READ: Acts 4:32-33

During the period of grace, God’s fiery judgment could fall on the disobedient. In the Early Church, Ananias and Sapphira were victims of the Consuming Fire at a time of grace (Acts 5:1-11). Grace period is a period of divine mercy at its best. Yet, when people are basking in God’s mercy, some are being roasted by God’s indignation. May you not be roasted in a time of grace! In 1 Samuel 16:14, immediately the Spirit of God came on David, He left king Saul and an unclean spirit silently moved in.

In a matter of seconds, a very sane, rational looking king became a mad man. It was instant! He died in that state! In the same vein, as soon as the Holy Spirit left Samson in Judges 16:20-21, the supernatural gave way for the natural and within minutes, he lost his eyes, was bound and taken to prison. One lesson from this is that believers should not toy with sin because the devil is just looking for one moment of carelessness and then he will strike.

There are some who could not recover from such a well-timed attack. Be on your guard always because the devil is on the prowl looking for the right moment when you compromise or decide to indulge in sin even for once; You may lose your eyes like Samson and never be able to regain your sight.

Moreover, being a gracious God, once in a while, God may look at somebody and say, “Alright, having shown him my power, let us give him another opportunity to repent so that he can be restored”. This was what happened to Nebuchadnezzar. I am ever amazed at the power of grace each time I study the story of king Nebuchadnezzar. He was dethroned for seven years yet nobody took his throne. In those days, the battle was intense to grab the throne.

Kings fought one another to overthrow their opponents; even children fought to dethrone their fathers. Yet, Nebuchadnezzar’s throne was kept for him. That was nothing but grace! Similarly, Samson’s hair began to grow again and the ex-warrior became a warrior again as he cried for restoration. Have you backslidden? Are you down in the pit of sin and you look beaten, defeated and crushed? You could be back on your feet. There is restoration at His presence. Call on Him to restore you now. You can receive of God’s grace this moment if only you are willing.

ACTION POINT:
Father, let me enjoy every provision of grace during this period of grace.

MISSING INHERITANCE?- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Num 4 -6

MISSING INHERITANCE?

Monday, March 15, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Galatians 4:7)

READ: Galatians 4:1-7

Jesus Christ is linked with everything in creation or as people would say, He has a hand in every pie so as to guarantee His followers the best in everything. For instance, if you are interested in property, assets and inheritance, you will find Him very relevant. Hebrew 1:2 says, “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds”.

He is the Heir of All Things. The implication of this is that if you are connected to Him, He can help you recover your lost inheritance on earth. There are people whose lands, houses and other assets have been stolen by those who were meant to keep them. Worse still, there are families - particularly polygamous ones where property sharing is a matter of life and death.

Some deliberately do charms for their brothers, sisters or mates to forget they have a share in the family property, run mad, or even die. Some very vicious, greedy ones do not mind eradicating an entire family because of property! Some mad people you find on the streets are victims of assets-sharing scuffles in families. No wonder 1 Timothy 6:6 says the love of money is the root of all evils!

“And if children, then heirs; heir of God, and joint -heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together” (Rom. 8:17) When you become a child of the Heir of All things, He takes over your case and fights for you. He has numerous ways of restoring your stolen inheritance. You do not need to engage in any physical battle with your property thieves; just hand over the battle to Jesus who also doubles as the Advocate and Man of War.

By the time He is through, you will be sorry for your oppressors. Have you suffered losses in this respect? The Heir of All Things will take over your battle and recover everything that was stolen from you this season. Your oppressors shall be miserable from this moment until they deliver what is yours to you. For a user of this Devotional, the Heir of All Things has swung into action on your behalf and is recovering what you have lost. Just praise Him. And when He is through, testify and thank God for it. In addition, when you become a child of Jesus, you become a co-heir with Him on everything God has. Are you ready for this?

ACTION POINT:
After transferring your case of deprivation to Jesus, leave Him to decide how He will recover what you have lost. Don’t dictate to Him. Be patient and regularly praise Him.

WORD IN YOUR MOUTH- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Num 1-3

WORD IN YOUR MOUTH

Sunday, March 14, 2010

MEMORIZE: “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; ” (Rom. 10:8)

READ: Romans 10:8-13

When you acquaint yourself with God, receive His Word, and archive it in your heart, the next thing to do is to pattern your life by that Word. Be guided by God’s Word. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

From this scripture, it is obvious that the reason for having God’s Word in your mouth and meditating on it is to provoke you into obedience, which in turn will bring prosperity and success. Any Word of God you receive which is not put into practice or obeyed will not work in your life. Have you obeyed all God’s instructions delivered to you since the year began?

When it says ‘the word shall not depart from your mouth’, it means that your heart must be so filled with the Word of God that each time you open your mouth to speak, God’s Word will continue to spill out, for “...out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh” (Matt. 12:34B). If the Word is in your mouth, it will purge your tongue from filthy conversations, gossips, backbiting, lies, and immoral comments.

If your mouth has God’s Word, it will back up everything you say with power. It will make you teach God’s Word convincingly and with authority. The Word is meant to permanently reside in your mouth. How many times do you confess God’s Word each day?

‘The Word shall not depart from your mouth’ also means that you will be so clean and close to the Holy Spirit that He will be free to speak through you anytime He wants. That means, you will be His voice to the church and the world. The more the Holy Spirit speaks through your mouth, the more circumcised your tongue becomes, and the more like God you become. How can His Word be in your mouth? Be born again. Study the Bible daily.
Commit several scriptures to heart. Confess God’s promises over situations and circumstances you meet daily. Pray regularly in the Spirit. Preach regularly to unbelievers and lead them to Christ. Worship God and praise Him using scripture based lyrics. Avoid using your tongue to say anything evil. As you do these and set apart your tongue for God’s use, whatever decree that emanates from it becomes law.

ACTION POINT:
Before your tongue can issue out decrees that must be obeyed by one and all, it must be circumcised. Ask God to circumcise it.

God-knowing heart- Open heavems devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Heb. 11-13

GOD-KNOWING HEART

Saturday, March 13, 2010

MEMORIZE: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee” (Prov. 23:7)

READ: Jeremiah 24:4-7

“And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart” (Jere. 24:7). For you to know God, the state of your heart is very important. When God gives you a God-knowing heart, you will desire to know Him like Paul. Knowing God will become a priority in life. But for a start, set your heart to seek God (2 Chron. 11:16).

Ask God regularly for a heart that knows Him. Give yourself to seeking Him through the pages of Scriptures. Obey Him at all times. By the time the positive heart transplant is done, you will be filled with unquenchable desire to seek God. That will be your portion today.

Proverbs 23:7 says man is a product of his imagination. You are what you think. The type of heart you have will determine your thoughts and actions. Your heart has everything to do with your destiny. If you have the wrong or negative heart, there is no way you can get to where God is taking you. For instance, if you have a fearful heart, it will stop you from taking the necessary steps into your destiny as at the appointed time (Is. 35:4).

Whenever your heart is filled with fear, God will not be able to fulfill His promises in your life. Somehow, whatever is in your heart has a way of coming to materialization. Job was so afraid of losing his wealth that one day, he actually lost them (Job 3:25). Are you afraid you will not make it? Or that you will fail? Fear not! It shall be well with you. Moreover, Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will”.

There is a heart meant for kings. If you are born again, you are a divine king. This heart is for you. You need a king’s heart to reign over Satan, the flesh, the world and situations and circumstances. If you have this heart, you will not be discouraged by what you have or don’t have. Material possessions are not what makes you a king. It is the heart. When you have a king’s heart it will show in all you do. You will remain focused on the things of God. You will be in charge of your situations. Enforcing God’s Word will be easy and natural. You will rule by decrees. Do you have a king’s heart? Ask for it today!

Action Point:
Not everyone can decree and it is established because not everyone has the king’s heart. Ask God for this heart today.

Pain without relief- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

PAIN WITHOUT RELIEF

Friday, March 12, 2010

MEMORIZE: “The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly” (Zeph 1:14)

Read: Zephaniah. 1:14-18

While sorrow and weeping (except weeping for joy) will be over for the righteous after the rapture, the sorrow of the world would just be beginning (Matthew 24:8). The use of the word ‘sorrow’ in the original Greek in this context means the beginning of labor pains. When a woman is travailing while about to deliver, she will go through intense pains and cries. But at the height of the pain comes the baby. And that terminates the pain and puts a smile on her face and laughter in her mouth. But the sorrow of the world comes with pain - lots of anguish sandwiched between sorrow and weeping but at the height of it all comes no relief but hell. You will not partake of the sorrow of the world in Jesus’ Name.

“The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly” (Zep. 1:14). After the rapture, the world will experience a most agonizing cry. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus agonized so much for the sins of the world that His sweat was as thick as blood. Those who turn down His offer of Salvation and remain on earth after the rapture will experience agony, pain, sorrow and weeping at a height never experienced on planet earth.

This pain will be dished to one and all. The mighty, wealthy, influential, leader, political office holder, military officers, captains of industry, etc will cry bitterly. But there will be no solace or comfort for them. According to Malachi 3:1-3, because this present age is about to birth the next age, God will turn the world upside down and take it through fire. The sun, moon and stars will be affected (Joel 2:30-31).

The works of creation that adorn the earth and skyline today will begin to fight against the inhabitants of the earth. Are you a sinner and think you are suffering now? Sorry, you ain’t seen nothing yet! It will be worse! There is no pain relieving tablet to douse the effect of pain during the Great Tribulation. There will be no bunkers, caves or enclosures to hide. There will be no single person to even tell you ‘sorry’ because everyone will have a share of it. The only people that could have comforted you would have gone with Jesus at the rapture. You can avoid this terrible experience by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord today and living daily for Him.

ACTION POINT:
One choice everyone must make is where to suffer - either with Christ here on earth or without Christ in eternity. What’s your decision?

MISSING INGREDIENT

MEMORIZE: “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5)

READ: 1 Peter 5:5-7
Following God's Purpose for Your Life: An Audio Book Based on "The School of Obedience" By Andrew Murray

The clothes you put on have certain effects on you. Physically, people will rate, relate and address you by your dressing. Spiritually, the effect of your dressing is even more. This is why you must be very careful what you put on daily. 1 Peter 5:5 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble”.

Not only must subordinates submit themselves to their superior, but both superiors and subordinates must wear the same dress humility. Why? It is only those who wear humility that attract grace from God. There are two very vital attributes that no Christian can do without: they are faith and grace. You cannot please God or live the Christian life without faith. In the same way, you cannot amount to anything without grace.

Everything you have received or will yet receive from God - salvation, healing, prosperity, holiness, gifts of the Spirit, fruit of the Spirit, direction, etc is by grace. Every element of pride on you rebuffs the indispensable traits of grace and faith. You cannot be proud and have faith in God. The proud has faith in himself, his abilities and accomplishments. There is no grace for the proud seeker!
When the elders want to describe an arrogant fellow, they will say he wears pride like a garment. As humility is a garment so also is pride. Which are you wearing? Do I hear you say you are wearing a bit of both? Sorry, it does not work that way because God does not allow a mixture of clothe materials: Its either humility or pride. In those days, when you see a Christian from two kilometers, you will recognize him from that distance.

Then, they were nicknamed S.U. The fleeting music of worldly fashion did not affect their sober, humble and godly dressing. But today, it is a different ball game. It is very difficult to identify a believer by his outward appearance or dressing. Why? It is because there is a missing vital ingredient - humility. If you wear humility, irrespective of what you put on physically it will show. Can people call you a believer in Christ by what you wear?

ACTION POINT:
Whenever you put on physical clothes, it is the spiritual clothes you wear that will determine people’s perception and interpretation of it.

SIXTYFOLD RETURNLord Bless Me, God Doesn't Need Your Money, Whatever the Cost I Don't Care, Everything is All Right in My Father's House (Miracle Faith Seed Series)
Wednesday, March 10, 2010

MEMORIZE: “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward” (Matt. 10:41)

READ: Matthew 10:40-42

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Gal. 6:9). If there is anything we learn from the above scripture as well as from Ecclesiastes 11:1-6, it is the need to continue to sow. Continue to do good. As a wise spiritual investor, you must never stop sowing or doing good to those around you, particularly your fellow believers irrespective of their denomination.

Why? Stopping can erode your harvests! Some believers have complained of sowing so much but have not felt the impact of their seeds hence they have decided to put a stop to further sowing. There is a user of this Devotional who is in that situation now. You have stopped sowing in worthy Kingdom projects because you think you have not received harvests for past seeds sown. Do not stop. You may not know how some harvests manifest in your life. Trust the Lord and His Word and continue to sow. You will have your expectations met.

Apart from thirtyfold, it is also possible to have a sixtyfold return on your investment. “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward” (Matt. 10:41). Whenever you sow into the lives of pastors, evangelists, and other spiritual leaders that are in right standing with God, you qualify for sixtyfold returns.
One reason God blesses you is so that you can be a blessing to your spiritual father. If you are being blessed under the ministry of your pastor and yet find it difficult to bless him, you are not only robbing yourself, you are cursing your blessing. If you have three or four cars and nothing touches you when you see your pastor trekking or pushing to start his bad car, something is wrong with you.

Some people prefer to sow into the lives of other pastors outside or in other ministries than to sow in the lives of their pastors. This is wrong. Stop robbing Peter to pay Paul! Take good care of your pastor. Whatever you give to him is not lost. It is bringing you greater returns than giving to a fellow member of the church. Be a wise investor! However, don’t sow into any satanic pastor or ministry: you will lose your seed and get a rebuke!

ACTION POINT:
Let your charity begin at home. Touch your pastor and his family with great, sacrificial seeds this period and thankfully receive your sixtyfold returns from God.

Judgement during grace?- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

JUDGEMENT DURING GRACE?

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

MEMORIZE: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17)

READ: John 1:14-17

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Many people today have turned scoffers. God has suddenly become too slow for them. They argue that in the Old Testament, God judged sin instantly but that in the New Testament, God is too merciful and too slow to act. Does this mean that God has changed or is no more as powerful as He was during the Old Testament? No! The above scripture tells us that God is not slack.

What makes Him appear slow is His mercy. We live in a time of grace (John 1:14-17). Yet, God still does certain things instantly during this grace period so that men do not continue in evil, thinking that there will be no reprisals for sin. Sin always has negative consequences. Are you living in sin? Quit today before it finds you out!

Gehazi fell on the wrong side of the Consuming Fire and he instantly became a leper (2 Kings 5:20-27). When the first branch of the RCCG started and blossomed in Osogbo, the pastor there decided to steal it from the Mission. The founder, Pa Akindayomi went there and asked him what he was trying to do. He took credit for all the effort and labor that got the church to its level of growth, but Papa differed, saying it was Jesus who brought the people into the church. But the man would not agree and was bent on turning it into his personal church.

Papa left him and there was a sudden rushing mighty wind which filled the church. Everyone thought it was preparing for a downpour, but when they peeped outside, there was no rain or cloud. By the following morning, the disobedient pastor was covered from head to toe with leprosy! When God’s power comes down, what you get depends on which side of the divide you fall.

Even today, many believers are experiencing the other side of God - judgment. Some know this while others think it is the devil fighting against them. If you touch God’s anointed, you are calling for the other side of God. If you manipulate figures, steal church money, live in fornication or secret sin, you could become a victim of God’s instant judgment in a time of grace. Repent and ask God not to be a negative example.

ACTION POINT:
Ask for the Spirit of prompt obedience in today’s church as a deterrent of God’s judgment in time of grace.

His breeding Ground- Open heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

HIS BREEDING GROUND
Monday, March 08, 2010

MEMORIZE: “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his” (Heb 4:10)

READ: Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus is light. If you are truly a part of Him, if He is dead, you are equally dead and if He lives, you live with Him (Gal. 2:20). You can become a part of the light by being pregnant with Jesus Christ. What does this mean? In Genesis 1:1-3, the Holy Spirit brooded over the earth before it could move from its disorderly and chaotic state into one of order.  When the local hens lay eggs, they would bring them together and sit on them for days before the chicks would emerge.

Like the hens, and like the time of creation, the Holy Spirit brooded over Mary and she conceived and finally delivered Jesus Christ (Luke 1:34-35). You cannot imagine what you are capable of conceiving this year.  You cannot imagine the ideas that could put  paid to poverty, sorrow and marginalization in your life which would be conceived when the Holy Spirit broods over you. If you make yourself God’s breeding ground, He would cause you to conceive things beyond your dreams.

When the Lord emerged from the Jordan river after His water baptism in Matthew 3:13-17, the Holy Spirit sat upon Him in form of a dove. Things were no more the same with Him from that moment! He was launched into the realm of the supernatural! To become pregnant of Jesus, you can start by asking the Holy Spirit to overshadow you. But this is not enough. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit is important but not adequate.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is like being baptized in water - being dipped into the water and lifted and within minutes its all over.  But after the Holy Spirit baptism, when the Holy Spirit overshadows you, you just bask in His presence. You do not go away but remain long in His presence.  Many things the Lord wants to do in the lives of His children He finds difficult doing because they dash in and out of His presence so often that He cannot brood over them.

Take some days or a week off  just to be in His presence. You are not in a hurry but just worshipping, praising and adoring Him. And ask Him to brood over you - to do whatever He wants with you. By the time you leave, your life cannot be the same. You can become His breeding ground!

ACTION POINT:
Father, make me and my family Your breeding ground.
