MEMORIZE: “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5)

The clothes you put on have certain effects on you. Physically, people will rate, relate and address you by your dressing. Spiritually, the effect of your dressing is even more. This is why you must be very careful what you put on daily. 1 Peter 5:5 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble”.
Not only must subordinates submit themselves to their superior, but both superiors and subordinates must wear the same dress humility. Why? It is only those who wear humility that attract grace from God. There are two very vital attributes that no Christian can do without: they are faith and grace. You cannot please God or live the Christian life without faith. In the same way, you cannot amount to anything without grace.
Everything you have received or will yet receive from God - salvation, healing, prosperity, holiness, gifts of the Spirit, fruit of the Spirit, direction, etc is by grace. Every element of pride on you rebuffs the indispensable traits of grace and faith. You cannot be proud and have faith in God. The proud has faith in himself, his abilities and accomplishments. There is no grace for the proud seeker!
When the elders want to describe an arrogant fellow, they will say he wears pride like a garment. As humility is a garment so also is pride. Which are you wearing? Do I hear you say you are wearing a bit of both? Sorry, it does not work that way because God does not allow a mixture of clothe materials: Its either humility or pride. In those days, when you see a Christian from two kilometers, you will recognize him from that distance.
Then, they were nicknamed S.U. The fleeting music of worldly fashion did not affect their sober, humble and godly dressing. But today, it is a different ball game. It is very difficult to identify a believer by his outward appearance or dressing. Why? It is because there is a missing vital ingredient - humility. If you wear humility, irrespective of what you put on physically it will show. Can people call you a believer in Christ by what you wear?
ACTION POINT:
Whenever you put on physical clothes, it is the spiritual clothes you wear that will determine people’s perception and interpretation of it.
