MEMORIZE: “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last” (Rev. 1:17) READ: Rev. 1:17-20 One important thing seeing Jesus in His glorified form reminds us, is that it is possible for us to share in that same glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”. Yes, you can resemble your Master Jesus. Here, what you focus on is very crucial. What you see regularly has a way of blending into you. Little by little, you begin to tolerate negative things you see and classify them common place. That evil is rampant does not make it right. This is why you must be absolutely careful of what you feed your eyes upon. If you focus on Jesus and His Word, like Him you will be. Also, according to Romans 8:17-18, the picture of the glorified Christ tells us that one day, we too shall be glorified. Infact, according to that scripture, there is no comparison between our earthly sufferings and denials with the Heavenly glory and joy awaiting us. The more you suffer for His Name sake, the greater will be your glory eternally. The question now is: Are you suffering for Christ? Moreover, when John fainted on seeing the glorified Christ, the Lord touched him and said, ‘Fear Not’. During His earthly days, He said the same words on different occasions. For instance, in Matthew 14:26-27 while the disciples were trapped mid-sea amidst storms, the Lord walked to them and said, ‘Fear Not’. At the Mount of Transformation, when the trio were shown a glimpse of His glory, they were taken by fear; so He said, ‘Fear Not’. When addressing the presence and power of evil men who may want to kill God’s children, the Lord said, ‘Fear Not’ (Matt. 10:28-33). When He gave Peter a net-breaking catch of fish and he was gripped with fear, the Lord told him, ‘Fear Not’ (Luke 5:10). Why must you not fear? There is no situation you come across that is beyond His handling.Let Somebody Shout Hallelujah! The Life and Ministry of Pastor E. A. Adeboye Hence, today, the Lord is saying to you, Fear Not! In that difficult, or next to impossible situation, Jesus is by your side saying Fear Not! Whatever the storm you are in - physical, spiritual, financial, etc. He says Fear Not. You are coming out victorious. The Lord has already provided for the solution. Besides, fear cannot solve or improve but complicate the situation. Hold on and call on the Lord in faith and He will make a way. ACTION POINT: Reject every seed of fear sown in your heart. Ask for the Spirit of courage and boldness.

Joy of the Redeemed- Open Heavens Daily Devotionals by Pastor E.A Adeboye

JOY OF THE REDEEMED Thursday, November 11, 2010
MEMORIZE: “Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isa. 51:11) READ: Isaiah 51:11-12 “Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isa. 51:11). One lot of the redeemed is joy. There are several reasons why they should be full of joy. Although some people use the word joy and happiness interchangeably yet they are two different things. Joy is the mother of happiness. Everyone that is full of joy is happy but not everyone who is happy is full of joy. While happiness springs from pleasant events such as having a child, promotion at the office, moving to your personal house, etc. joy is there whether pleasant events occur or not. Happiness is surfacial while joy is deep-rooted. Happiness could be from man but joy comes from God deep from the inner recesses of the spirit man. Joy is like a spring of water that keeps bubbling within the heart of the redeemed. If you are born again, one evidence you will have is this overflow of joy. At some point, people will ask why you are so full of joy. Have you experienced this joy like a river? One quality of this joy is that it is not easily affected by events and physical changes. For instance, during a storm, you will remain peaceful because of this joy. In the same manner, in sickness, the hope of having been healed by His stripes automatically catapults you over the grip of that ailment: hence, you can be rest assured that healing and health are yours in Christ. Before being attacked by enemies, you have the assurance that you have already overcome because you are more than conquerors. There are three basic reasons for the joy of the redeemed. The first is the joy of a new name. According to today’s reading, when you are redeemed, you are given a new name the son of God. The name you bear determines what will happen to you. Moses was named ‘Moses’ meaning ‘drawn out of water’ and he encountered water several times during his ministry. He changed water to blood, brought water out of the rock, changed the form of water from bitter to sweet, and finally his inability to enter the promised land was because of water. A man’s name is equal to his destiny. A new name means a new destiny. Have you received a new name? Until you switch from the child of Satan to child of God, your destiny cannot be changed for the better. ACTION POINT: One major source of joy is God’s eternal Word. Disappointment for ill-wishers- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

DISAPPOINTMENT FOR ILL-WISHERS Wednesday, November 10, 2010
MEMORIZE: “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him” (Ps. 12:5) READ: Joshua 6:16-20 It is not over until you win that battle. Have your enemies concluded that they have got you securely locked up in poverty, sickness, demonic oppression or retrogression? They are about to receive a shocker! You are coming out! In the battle against Jericho, the Israelites confronted the long-standing security provided by those huge, massive walls and they fell apart (Joshua 6:16-20). Every wall of defense surrounding the stronghold of your enemies are being dismantled now. Their safety is giving way to insecurity and fear in Jesus’ Name. No matter how tough your unpleasant situation is, change is about to visit it. A preacher shared the story of a very poor woman with me. Besides being so impoverished, she had her blind mother living with her. One day, the landlord threatened to eject them if they did not pay their rent by the following morning. The woman was disturbed on how to handle herself and her mother being thrown into the streets. That night, confused on what to do, she began to praise God. She continued until she fell asleep. On waking up in the morning, she perceived some good aroma emanating from the kitchen so she rushed there to see who was behind it only to discover that her mother had miraculously regained her sight and was the one cooking the meal. They rejoiced over it and the woman told God, ‘You who did this for my mother, within the two hours to the landlord’s appointment can still fix the next challenge’. So she began to praise God some more. Not long after, the post master arrived with a parcel for her. The content read that her uncle with whom there has been no contact for several years had passed on and bequeathed all his wealth to her. From this, she got money to build a house and became a landlord! In your situation, never lose hope. One thing is for sure, tough and rough times are timed: It may appear it is taking long, do not fret. Confront it with praise to your God and He will make a way. Have people given up hope of your succeeding in life? They are about to be shocked! You are going to excel the ceiling people have set for you. It shall be well with you. Remember, Romans 8:37 says you are more than conquerors through Christ’s love for you. All those who wish you evil shall be disappointed this season! ACTION POINT: Father, disappoint all my ill-wishers and say Amen to their fears concerning me.

STRIVE ON Tuesday, November 09, 2010
MEMORIZE: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:14) READ: Acts 20:20-24 Reward could act as a great motivator in accomplishing Kingdom assignments. When Laban asked Jacob what he wanted as wages and the latter replied that he wanted his pretty daughter, a time was fixed. In that meeting, a specific period - seven years was mutually agreed on. This talks about goal-setting. Anyone who aims at nothing will get nothing. Today’s hard work is not necessarily for the moment but for tomorrow. Today’s prayer and fasting is not for now but for your future needs. That is why you cannot over-pray or over-give: whatever you do not need for now is moved to take care of future exigencies. To remain relevant, you must be ever green. As long as you remain green, growth is guaranteed. But the moment you are ripe, rottenness takes a toll on the fellow. The day you stop growing, decay sets in. After goal-setting, you need vision to arrive there. (N.B I will appreciate your support for this vision to eradicate illiteracy, visit www.10millionexercisebooks.com for more details.) In Philippians 3:13-14, we see someone who knew how to set goals and achieve them. Until he got to his goal, he never thought he had done anything spectacular. His accomplishments, trials and imprisonments did not stop him: He saw himself as just starting and continued to press on. He knew when he finished the race and he also made it known to the church. This is why I say I have not even started my race to Heavenly greatness. Have you started? For some of us, past achievements have become stumbling blocks to greater heights. After seven years, Jacob ended up with the wrong woman. He was undeterred. He decided to serve another seven years just to get to his goal. Do you easily give up on your goal? Some people never stay on a particular target. If they say they want the nine gifts of the Spirit and are given two, they will forget the rest. Do not allow any hindrance to change your goal. Have you dumped your high goals for very low goals? Reclaim your original goal, remain there and continue to press forward until you get there. Even when you have been disappointed before, do not lose hope. As long as you refuse to dump your goal, your goal will not dump you. You will reach the greatest heights! ACTION POINT: If you let past disappointments, losses or difficulties to stop you from making fresh efforts, you will be listed among those who failed God. |

MEMORIZE: “Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son” (Gen. 18:14) READ: Acts 1:1-4 God operates a different time frame from human beings. While our days are measured between seconds and years, God operates in eternity which has only one long and unending day. Speaking of this, Peter says the difference between both time frames could be so sharp that our 1000 years could be an equivalent of a day out of God’s eternity span and vice versa (2 Peter 3:8). With us there is time but with God there is only timing. Another significant thing about God and time is that He cannot be rushed. He does things according to His divine plan and timetable. For instance, the smell of Pentecost that was imminent, just like Christmas a few days before December 25, did not hasten God who had to wait for Pentecost to fully come before releasing His Holy Spirit to come to earth (Acts 2:1). There is a set time for every blessing of God to locate you. What you ought to do is find out by the help of the Spirit so that you can align your timetable with His. Many times, we plan ahead of God in many issues. In your personal timetable, it may be time for you to flourish but it may not yet be time for that in God’s timetable for you. Frustration comes when you think the time for an issue has come and you do everything to push God to do His part, whereas God will not move because He knows you are planning outside His timing. God’s approved time for your blessing is the best. If everyone else is changing their cars to Jeep, what makes you think God wants you to have a Jeep? And if He does, He has His time for it. You may be asking for certain blessings 5,10, 20, or even 30 years ahead of Heaven’s time. There is nothing wrong in asking: just wait until God is ready to release the blessing to you according to His time. Any blessing that comes ahead of Heaven’s set time cannot be guaranteed its original form of blessing. (N.B Be a blessing today, support www.10millionexercisebooks.com today.) It could lose all its wonderful attachment and end up as a curse. What is important is not just being blessed or receiving an answer to prayer, but in having these blessings according to God’s set timetable. When Jesus wanted to go and heal Lazarus while the latter was sick, the Holy Spirit asked Him to wait. He had to delay until Lazarus died and was stinking before He asked Him to go. In the end, a bigger miracle surfaced and God’s name was more highly magnified over the miracle. ACTION POINT: Christians who rush God end up reducing the mileage of His glory. Father, give me the grace to flow with your timing for every aspect of my life. |
LOVE IS ESSENTIAL- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

LOVE IS ESSENTIAL Saturday, November 06, 2010
MEMORIZE: “Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Rom 13:10) READ: Jeremiah 3:12-14 Love is a must in every marriage relationship. No relationship will last if love is absent. Where present, love turns challenges into testimonies, problems into victories. It is common to hear God compare His relationship with Israel to a marriage relationship as done in today’s passage. Love is the oil in the wheel of marital progress, the wine in a toast. Even when Israel was unfaithful to Jehovah, His love for them made Him to overlook their sins and asked their return. Love is one of the greatest forces of good on earth. It overcomes errors. If you truly love someone, you will not become disenchanted by his or her errors. Anytime you find it difficult to overlook your partner’s error, you can be sure that something had happened to your bottle of love. If you keep a black book mentally, which has a record of wrongs - deliberate or otherwise, it is because you don’t love. Whenever you reel out offences of an individual citing dates, times and location of the offences, you have been overcome with hatred! True love never wants to end a relationship. It is absence of it that causes people to part from those they would rather have lived with until death. Some people beat their wives with the excuse that they love them. That is not true. Wife-beaters engage in wife-beating out of impatience and deficiency of the presence of the fruit of the Spirit. Wife-beating is done out of a lack of self control. Women sometimes think or act rashly yet, they deserve love, not beating. Any minister of God who engages in wife-beating is not qualified to minister from the altar. Do you want to preach what you do not possess? God hates every act of wickedness done to your spouse and He will judge between husband and wife one day. Do you love your spouse? Where love is present, it is possible to grow in it. Some people do not feel any iota of love for their spouse even after confirming that such a spouse is God’s choice for them. What should be done therefore is to take time to ask God for love for that spouse because no marriage will work without it. Do you still love your spouse? Or have you become a wife-beater or husband-fighter? Repent and resolve to make your marriage work. ACTION POINT: God gave you somebody to empty your love upon. The measure of love you show to your spouse is the real content of love in you. N.B Love your neighbour as yourself, support www.10millionexercisebooks.com project today. God bless you. |
GO FOR THE GLORY- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

GO FOR THE GLORY Friday, November 05, 2010
MEMORIZE: “And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone and Moses put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him” ( Exo. 34:35) READ: Exodus 34:27-37 “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last” (Rev. 1:17). When John saw Jesus in His glorified form, he fainted. The Lord touched him and told him ‘Fear not’. One lesson here is that when you go into God’s presence regularly and absorb His glory to a point, when you come out, everything you meet will have to bow down to you whether they like it or not. We are designed to be carriers of His glory. Unfortunately, since Adam lost that glory, and even after Jesus paid the price, many of us are just satisfied with going about with emptiness. Demons recognize the glory when they see it. Human beings recognize it too (Acts 6:15). But the glory doesn’t just come. In fact, going by the lack of thirst for spiritual things pervading the lives of many saints today, it is possible for believers to go through life without carrying the glory and therefore live in perpetual defeat. One person who carried that glory was Moses. But it did not come cheap! Moses had gone into God’s presence on Mount Sinai without carrying the glory. On one occasion, when he went to receive the 10 Commandments, he stayed for 40 days and nights without food, yet, he did not return with the glory. Being in God’s presence is not enough. Doing God’s will is not enough. After several trips to Mount Sinai, Moses had to specifically beg to see God’s glory (Exodus 33:18-23). It is not enough to ask to see the glory: you must prove that you desire it more than anything else. Finally, it was after his eight trip to Mount Sinai that he returned with God’s glory (Exodus 34:29). Yet, he still returned to God’s presence because he needed to sustain the glory experience. Why are people talking or insulting men of God? It is because they are not carrying the glory. Let’s not deceive ourselves: the glory on Stephen was physically seen. Those who killed him knew they killed an unusual person whose face was radiating like an angel’s. Also, the Israelites were afraid to look on Moses so he had to physically cover his face with a veil. When the glory of God comes upon you, everyone around you will know. Everyone -superiors and subordinates will be forced to fear you when you carry this glory. Go for the glory! ACTION POINT: The fastest way of earning respect from all and sundry is by accessing God’s glory. Go for it! N.B Be a blessing, support www.10millionexercisebooks.com today. |
WAITING FOR A LOSS?- Open Heavens devotional by Pastor E. A Adeboye

WAITING FOR A LOSS? Thursday, November 04, 2010
MEMORIZE: “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit” (Psalm 51:12) READ: Psalm 51:1-12 God has had to present great opportunities disguised as demands and many people have lost them. This has to do with how people perceive things. If you do not see things, circumstances and events from God’s perspective, you will continue to take such events as problems instead of the solutions that they really are. May the Lord open your eyes to see every disguised blessing in Jesus’ Name. There are those who lost some precious things but through God’s grace, they recovered them. Yet, there are others who never recovered what they lost. For instance, the pioneer Israeli king lost his crown but never recovered it. Beyond that loss, God ensured he had no son left in his house; all died on the same day! David, king Saul’s successor lost his crown but got it back. He cried to God with a penitent heart in Psalm 51, and God punished him but also restored him. Many fail to know the value of their legs until they suffer from a stroke. When you tell some people to dance for the Lord, the reason they will advance for not doing so vigorously is because they are dignified and honorable people. The day they are hit with a stroke, they will begin to cry to God for restoration promising to dance for Him with the legs. Do not wait to lose your legs: Justify why you have them now! (N.B Support www.10millionexercisebooks.com project towards eradicating illiteracy today.) I had a team of young boys and girls who accompanied me wherever I was going several years ago. I taught them to evangelize in twos. One day, two of them went to Otta town (Nigeria) to preach to an old man. He was the leader of the herbalists in the town with all kinds of charms adorning his apartment. Offended at their visit, he promised to be mild in harming them since they were quite young. At some point, they asked him, ‘Sir, do you have any problem you cannot solve by your powers and charms?’ He said ‘Yes’. He was married to 16 wives and all died as payment to the witches who empowered him. Now, his 17th wife was pregnant and already bleeding which was the same way the others went. So they prayed for her in the Name of Jesus and left to witness to others. A few minutes later, the man ran after them shouting that the bleeding had stopped. That was how he gave his life to Jesus Christ and came under divine management. Anything you have that you cannot use for Him is a waste. ACTION POINT: One reason we do not see the spectacular power of God in manifestation today is because we fail to go to places God’s power would be tested. |

MEMORIZE: “Except the LORD build the house, they laboring vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” (Psalm 127:1) READ: Psalm 127:1-2 A winner knows how to move God into action through praise. In 2 Chronicles 20:20-25, when three powerful kings joined forces to fight one small king, the latter did not panic. All he did was to mobilize an efficient choir and they began to praise the Almighty God to a point that the Lord took over the battle, turned the enemies against one another and they destroyed themselves. At the end of the battle, not only did Jehoshaphat win the battle, he inherited great wealth which took his army some days to assemble (2 Chron. 20:20-25). When people gang up against you in the office, what do you do? Do you panic and begin a helter-skelter dash? Stop running! Start to engage your powerful praise weapon. There is a user of this Devotional who is facing a gang up situation in the office. You have been so sad and disillusioned. Arise! As you engage in active and persistent praise, worship and thanksgiving, the Lord will not only fight for you, but will compel your enemies to come and beg you. David had also learnt that praising God is a powerful weapon to defeat your enemies. No wonder he actively engaged in praise until he became a man after God’s heart. Moreover, every winner has a secret. This is why there are secret recipes or formulae to certain inventions or products. Being the super winner, God also has secrets. Psalm 25: 14 says, “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant”. Anyone who wants to be a winner must go to God to access such secrets. According to Psalm 127:1, one of the foundational secrets is that you cannot succeed without divine support. Except God builds with you, that building you are putting together will fall like a pack of cards. According to Psalm 24:7-10, if the King of Glory lives in you, you cannot be defeated. Know that without God you cannot win; with God, you cannot lose. This was the secret Paul was talking about when he said I can do all things through Christ’s strength (Phil. 4:13). As long as your divine supporter is right behind you, you can do just anything - build a house, become an MD/CEO, pass your examination, subdue your enemies, overcome that sickness, achieve that height. Yes, you can by His strength! ACTION POINT: If God says you can, you will be committing a crime if you believe otherwise. N. YOU WILL BE REWARDED Tuesday, November 02, 2010
MEMORIZE: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shown toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister” (Heb. 6:10) READ: Matthew 19:27-29 “And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?” (Gen. 29:15). When Jacob came to live with Laban, the latter told him he could not possibly serve him for nothing. Reward for service is important to God. You cannot possibly serve God without being more than adequately compensated. God expects you to keep an eye on your reward while serving Him. In Matthew 19:27-29, the apostles led by Peter tabled this issue before the Lord. ‘What shall we gain from our sacrifice for your Kingdom?’ The Lord did not ask them to give Him time to think of what to say: He immediately told them their reward is two-pronged: In their lifetime and in eternity. Some people think it is sin to expect or be motivated by reward for spiritual work done: No! They are wrong. What is important is that you should not focus on man to reward you but on the One who hired you. It is wrong for you to expect your pastor to reward you. He cannot! What salary can equate the soul that is won to Christ? How much can the time, talents and abilities used for Kingdom service be valued? This is why you must look up to Jesus to reward you. And He will. (N.B You will be richly rewarded as you support www.10millionexercisebooks.com project towards eradication of illiteracy.) In the Christian faith, reward is an acceptable motivator for Kingdom service. Before David took on Goliath, he first asked of the reward that would go to the one who succeeds in killing him (1 Sam. 17:25-27). Do you know that Heaven will reward you for every Goliath you kill and for every reproach you remove from God’s Kingdom? Many handle God’s work nonchalantly today because they do not have reward behind their mind. According to Hebrews 12:2, our Lord Jesus Christ was motivated by reward. He was motivated by the joy of having a name above every other name (Phil. 2:5-11). Do you know the Lord has a special name for you in Heaven (Rev. 2:17)? He was motivated to go to the Cross when He saw how several millions could come into God’s Kingdom and the joy that laid ahead in Heaven. Beloved, you are not wasting your time, money, talent serving the Lord. You will be overpaid for them. Go ahead and work as never before. ACTION POINT: The first thing is to render acceptable service that will be rewarded by Heaven. The next is to keep the faith so that you do not lose your reward. |
