You will be rewarded- Open Heavens by Pastor E. A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Lam 3 -5

YOU WILL BE REWARDED
Tuesday, November 02, 2010
MEMORIZE: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shown toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister” (Heb. 6:10)

READ: Matthew 19:27-29

“And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?” (Gen. 29:15).
When Jacob came to live with Laban, the latter told him he could not possibly serve him for nothing. Reward for service is important to God. You cannot possibly serve God without being more than adequately compensated. God expects you to keep an eye on your reward while serving Him. In Matthew 19:27-29, the apostles led by Peter tabled this issue before the Lord.

‘What shall we gain from our sacrifice for your Kingdom?’ The Lord did not ask them to give Him time to think of what to say: He immediately told them their reward is two-pronged: In their lifetime and in eternity.  Some people think it is sin to expect or be motivated by reward for spiritual work done: No! They are wrong. What is important is that you should not focus on man to reward you but on the One who hired you. It is wrong for you to expect your pastor to reward you. He cannot! What salary can equate the soul that is won to Christ? How much can the time, talents and abilities used for Kingdom service be valued? This is why you must look up to Jesus to reward you. And He will.

(N.B You will be richly rewarded as you support www.10millionexercisebooks.com project towards eradication of illiteracy.)

In the Christian faith, reward is an acceptable motivator for Kingdom service. Before David took on Goliath, he first asked of the reward that would go to the one who succeeds in killing him (1 Sam. 17:25-27). Do you know that Heaven will reward you for every Goliath you kill and for every reproach you remove from God’s Kingdom? Many handle God’s work nonchalantly today because they do not have reward behind their mind. According to Hebrews 12:2, our Lord Jesus Christ was motivated by reward. He was motivated by the joy of having a name above every other name (Phil. 2:5-11).

Do you know the Lord has a special name for you in Heaven (Rev. 2:17)?  He was motivated to go to the Cross when He saw how several millions could come into God’s Kingdom and the joy that laid ahead in Heaven. Beloved, you are not wasting your time, money, talent serving the Lord.  You will be overpaid for them. Go ahead and work as never before.

ACTION POINT:
The first thing is to render acceptable service that will be rewarded by Heaven. The next is to keep the faith so that you do not lose your reward.
