WORD IN YOUR MOUTH

Sunday, March 14, 2010

MEMORIZE: “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; ” (Rom. 10:8)

READ: Romans 10:8-13

When you acquaint yourself with God, receive His Word, and archive it in your heart, the next thing to do is to pattern your life by that Word. Be guided by God’s Word. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

From this scripture, it is obvious that the reason for having God’s Word in your mouth and meditating on it is to provoke you into obedience, which in turn will bring prosperity and success. Any Word of God you receive which is not put into practice or obeyed will not work in your life. Have you obeyed all God’s instructions delivered to you since the year began?

When it says ‘the word shall not depart from your mouth’, it means that your heart must be so filled with the Word of God that each time you open your mouth to speak, God’s Word will continue to spill out, for “...out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh” (Matt. 12:34B). If the Word is in your mouth, it will purge your tongue from filthy conversations, gossips, backbiting, lies, and immoral comments.

If your mouth has God’s Word, it will back up everything you say with power. It will make you teach God’s Word convincingly and with authority. The Word is meant to permanently reside in your mouth. How many times do you confess God’s Word each day?

‘The Word shall not depart from your mouth’ also means that you will be so clean and close to the Holy Spirit that He will be free to speak through you anytime He wants. That means, you will be His voice to the church and the world. The more the Holy Spirit speaks through your mouth, the more circumcised your tongue becomes, and the more like God you become. How can His Word be in your mouth? Be born again. Study the Bible daily.
Commit several scriptures to heart. Confess God’s promises over situations and circumstances you meet daily. Pray regularly in the Spirit. Preach regularly to unbelievers and lead them to Christ. Worship God and praise Him using scripture based lyrics. Avoid using your tongue to say anything evil. As you do these and set apart your tongue for God’s use, whatever decree that emanates from it becomes law.

ACTION POINT:
Before your tongue can issue out decrees that must be obeyed by one and all, it must be circumcised. Ask God to circumcise it.
